Where DevOps fits

Good DevOps pays off most when you have software that real people depend on and downtime actually costs you. It's a strong fit when:

• You're shipping a SaaS or mobile backend and deploys currently feel risky or manual.
• You want repeatable, documented infrastructure instead of a server only one person understands.
• You're growing and need caching, queues and a database that won't fall over under load.
• You need staging environments that mirror production so bugs get caught before customers do.
• You want backups, alerting and a recovery plan you've actually tested.

Our proof

We run our own multi-tenant e-commerce SaaS, FlexiCommerce, in production with paying customers. It's roughly 450,000 lines of code across a Laravel 12 backend, a Vue 3 / Inertia admin, and three native Flutter apps — served through about 500 API endpoints. We've also delivered client software in production — including a Brazilian field-inspection app (Flutter, Next.js, Supabase) and an app with 10,000+ downloads. The point: we operate the things we build, so our DevOps advice comes from running on-call, not from theory.

Is DevOps the right choice for you?

DevOps is the right investment when you have, or are about to have, users who feel your downtime — and when shipping changes currently makes your team nervous. Solid pipelines, containerisation and monitoring turn deploys into a non-event and protect your reputation.

It may be premature if you're still validating an idea with no traffic, or if a managed platform-as-a-service already covers your needs at your scale. In those cases, paying for full Kubernetes or elaborate infrastructure-as-code is cost without payoff. Specialist managed-hosting providers and platform tools like Heroku, Render or Vercel are genuinely excellent for early-stage apps and small teams who'd rather not run infrastructure at all — if that's you, choosing them over a custom setup is the smart call.
